Even after the more obvious sources of stress have been identified and cleared by EFT, NLP or other techniques- there is more to be done to maintain a stress-free state. There may be times when you are uneasy or fearful about a situation but can’t pin down what it is. Odds are there is a subconscious fear lurking within. These free-floating anxieties may be related ghosts of issues dealt with previously, perhaps in slightly different forms.
EFT and NLP case studies often find that new issues appear after the initial issues are cleared. Gary Craig (EFT founder) likens this to “peeling the layers off an onion.” An issue may be cleared up with tapping and a new issue pops up that needs to be dealt with. This may happen repeatedly until enough “layers” are removed and the core issue appears; once the core issue is resolved the block is fully cleared and Flow is re-established.
With Flow established positive energy enables positive thinking, forward progress, and manifestation to take place.

Clearing energy blocks: De-stress anger and resentments
Negative emotions such as anger, resentment and jealousy are potent stress producers, and as capable of blocking Flow as fear and pain. These are negative, aggressive states that likewise (to fear and pain) release the stress hormones, adrenaline and cortisol. If you are able to forgive and release your resentment that is best, and the part of you that is God will be pleased. If your resentment keeps you from forgiving you must release that resentment. Try tapping to the tune of “Even though I can’t let go of my anger while trying to forgive [person’s name], I deeply and completely love and accept myself” as the accepting statement (see 2 previous posts.) Follow this with tapping the other eight points, saying “this feeling of anger”, “this resentment” etc. Repeat until you are able to feel forgiveness, or acceptance of the other. This will release that block and positive energy will Flow.
NLP can also be used to take the “sting” out of fears and resentments. [See previous post.] Re-Frame the fear or anger by making a mental picture of the event. Make it in black and white, and very small to reduce the emotional impact you feel. Now take the mental picture and put it in a mental frame, with flashing lights embedded in the frame. Add some honky-tonk or circus music. Enjoy the Flow while the old negative block fades away!
Left unchecked the stressful effects of these negative emotions may cause emotional and health problems. Stress is thought to the major cause of ill health, and is known to cause heart and circulatory problems, ulcers, and a contributor to perhaps all diseases. Dr. Robert Sapolsky of Stanford gives a short YouTube video summary of these effects at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPS7GnromGo .

Clearing Energy Blocks: De-Stress fears cont’d
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) has a De-Stressing procedure that is likewise (to EFT) easy and fast. It is utterly simple to perform, and may even be done by oneself with little or no training. To learn this therapeutic technique one does not need an advanced degree or years of higher education. Nor spend months or years with a psychoanalyst (not to mention thousands of dollars.) It is NLP’s Fast Fear Removal Technique.
The Fast Fear Removal Technique is a purely mental technique that maintains positive energy flow while recalling the blocking fear-producing event in reverse. In terms of our mind/body/spirit energy flow model we have introduced flow into the phobia mix that blocked energy flow and caused the stress. So far so good, and this is similar to EFT. However, the added wrinkle of experiencing the fear event in reverse keeps the memory from being overwhelming and allows the phobic program and subprograms to now associate with flow. Flow and stress cannot coexist, the next time the phobia will be weaker. There will be flow at the end of the phobia tunnel!
The procedure is straightforward, and involves the following steps:
• First (to dissociate yourself and make the memory less threatening) be an observer: imagine yourself part of the audience in a movie theater.
• Watch as a small black and white picture that shows your fear experience episode starting before the event when you were safe and sound (with positive energy flowing) until afterwards when you are once again safe and sound at the end. If this is too threatening float up above yourself in the audience and watch from there.)
• Now watch the same fear experience in reverse, in fast backward motion starting at the end safe spot to the initial safe and sound spot. Repeat this procedure, but this time in full color, and jump into the action on the screen yourself in first person.
That’s it! You should now be able to face this previously un-faceable memory/thought.
There is a YouTube demonstration of this technique at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRDwhqXWu-A . In this two minute video top NLP expert Paul McKenna cures a client of fear of needles. Watch as Paul leads the person through these simple steps. If you have a fear of your own, allow yourself to Join in, simply substituting your own private fear for the fear of needles.

Clearing Energy Flow Blocks: Step one De-Stress
The number one enemy of flow is stress, and the number one cause of stress is Fear and Pain. When we eliminate these we eliminate that source of stress and experience more flow. We eliminate the anxiety and inhibition that automatically pumps through our body in the form of adrenaline and cortisol. This encourages the healing and restorative hormones to flow once more.
So Job #1 is to Eliminate Fear and Pain! Regardless if it is based on reality, or if it is just imaginary it still causes stress which blocks flow. Whether the root cause was physical or emotional pain, when we eliminate the associated stress we conquer the fear. To eliminate that stress we must “jump-start” the flow past the stress-producing block.
The good news is that there is a new hi-tech psychic stress-clearing method that eliminates fear and pain, or at least takes the “sting” out. It is safe, simple and fast; a child can do it. The trick is to jump-start positive energy flow at the same time the fear is present. This may be done through the body’s meridians, the channel through which the energy flows, by a form of acupressure. By gently tapping on these meridians (starting the flow) at the same time as the fear is being experienced (mentally focused on) the block is wiped out. When the fear is focused on again, the flow returns (simple association) and the block remains wiped out!
This procedure is called “Tapping”, or “Emotional Freedom Technique” (EFT). It was developed by Gary Craig and publicized and made available to all, FREE OF CHARGE, in 2004. It’s basically simple: while thinking of the fear tap with your fingers on the meridian points: 1) between the eyebrows, 2) at the side of the eye(s), 3) under the eye(s), 4) under the nose, 5) above the chin, 6) on the collar bone(s), 7) under the arm(s) 8) top of the head, and 9) on the Karate point on the side of the hand(s). The self-treatment starts with tapping on the 9) Karate point and talking about accepting the situation: “Even though I have this fear of public speaking (for instance) I completely accept myself.” The next step is tap on each meridian point while focusing on the fear, saying “this terrible fear”, “this fear of flying” etc. to maintain Flow.
That’s it! In summary you first tap the Karate chop point with the acceptance statement, then tap each of the other 8 points stating aloud that you have this fear, or pain. It takes about a minute. After completing one or two rounds of this observe yourself and sense if the pain, or the fear remains; if so repeat the procedure until it no longer bothers you.
There is a short video explaining tapping http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0I54BRKQ2po . There is also a Rod Sherwin video demonstration http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4EDgTc0AyQ . By all accounts precise accuracy on the tapping points or the accompanying dialogue is unimportant. The simple intention of exposing the fear to healing Flow will win the day. For those interested in learning more, EFT founder Gary Craig maintains a website that has a wealth of information about tapping at: http://www.garythink.com/

Mind/Body/Spirit Positive energy flow.
When you are “in the Zone” life is good. Most of us have experienced being in this Zone from time to time, and have felt ourselves empowered beyond the norm. Maslow called these moments “peak experiences”. There are other names for this: “being in the flow”, “feeling good vibrations”, and being in the moment. These are moments of inspiration, and miracles seem more likely to manifest themselves at such times. We transcend our incongruent stressed out states and are enlightened and empowered.
For the past five thousand years, healers, gurus and monks have been practicing meditative and spiritual healing techniques, attempting to regulate the body’s energy flow, referred to as “qi”. Recently these energy healing ideas have spread to the Western healing world as well. Miraculous medical and emotional healing results have been claimed, and indeed seem to have occurred. Scientific medical studies have documented many of these claims.
While there is scientific documentation supporting the efficacy of these techniques, there is very little in terms of scientific explanation of how they work. “Vibrations”, the “Law of attraction”, “Qi” and other energetic unseen forces are credited with improving or blocking our functioning. Some promising scientific medical studies are investigating neurochemical/DNA/hormonal changes. Whatever the explanatory principles of these various methodologies are, however, they have been shown to work and are worthy of pursuing.
These methodologies, with accompanying websites explaining how to perform these miracles, follow in the next few posts. Meditation and Breathing techniques, Yoga, Brainwave entrainment, Hypnosis, NLP and EFT are all effective positive energy ehancement tools, and in most cases can be accomplished via self-help.

EFT tapping technique
In the last ten years the western scientific/medical world has been studying energy healing modes, and verifying their effectiveness using western scientific methodology. The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as “tapping”, is one of the most recent energy healing techniques studies. It has been found to be effective, fast, and easy to administer. Tapping is effective in nearly all situations, ranging in effectiveness from outright cures of fears, phobias, and depression to reducing stress and pain and improving post-operative healing.
Amazingly, this tapping procedure can be self-administered, easily learned and applied, and the simple instructions are freely available. EFT founder Gary Craig provides everything you need to know on his website: * www.garythink.com/eft/eft-tutorial.html *
Jack Canfield, one of America best-selling authors and success coach, tells how he has been using EFT effectively on himself and others at * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abRF47I8dKc * He uses EFT in conjunction with the “law of attraction” and highly recommends it. This short YouTube video is very informative and entertaining.
Dawson Church has been carefully and scientifically studying and conducting research about EFT and other energy healing phenomena. In his website:* http://dawsonchurch.com/ * he discusses clinical trials and other proofs that EFT is a valuable effective healing technique, as well as how it works physiologically. Much more information can be found by Googling “Dawson Church EFT research”.
Gene Monterastelli has developed a website with many additional EFT tools and Q & A about tapping at: * http://www.facebook.com/tappingqanda * It is free too. That is what I like about these energy psychology and healing people! Many give the basic information for free. Additional information and use of their professional services are usually low cost and a few sessions, rather than months and months (or years) of therapy, is usually all that is necessary.

Qi energy blockages
According to Energy Psychology, Qi energy blockages are responsible for mental and physical ailments. Past negative, unresolved mental/physical traumas can settle in various parts of the body, sooner or later to disrupt the functioning there and cause stress. These blockages are energetically related to negative programs in our conscious and subconscious mind. And vice versa, all negative programs are connected to Qi energy blockages in the body. ****
So the qi energy blockages are equivalent to stress and its hormone/drug cortisol production, and it is well known that this is one of the leading causes of mental and physical disease, sometimes even leading to untimely death. We need a “DEstress- Qi energy Unblocker”! We need something that will produce a RELAXATION RESPONSE to counteract the stress and get the qi energy flowing again. Guess what?!? Dr. Herbert Benson of the Harvard Medical School Developed the Relaxation Response forty years ago; it is now accepted by the main-stream medical community as a “real” mind/body effect. Since then cutting edge medical research and practice has refined Dr. Benson’s work so that similar processes may be used that are simple, quick, effective and even self-administered yet produce miraculous results! ****
In the next few years the medical community will come to accept and even support these “new age” energy healing techniques. BUT WHY WAIT? In the next few posts we will examine these energy healing techniques and include links to web sites of cutting edge scientists who have developed and continue to develop new effective techniques; and are remarkably generous in making their ideas freely available. We will start with the new EFT tapping technique, on the next post. www.relaxationresponse.org/

The Law of SUBTRACTION, Think "Outside the Box" and the "Bubble of Reality"
Our past thoughts and experiences create a “Bubble of Reality” within which our consciousness is constrained to remain. This is the “box” we need to think outside of in order to overcome obstacles that we run into. The shell that boxes us in is the negative fear and limiting belief programs that we have mistakenly collected over our lifetime.
THESE ARE THE NEGATIVE PROGRAMS that we subtract in order to expand beyond the limiting shell of our bubble. In the previous posts we discussed EFT and NLP fear and negative program removal techniques. There are other “energy” techniques helpful in overcoming negative emotional states such as meditation, and binaural brainwave stimulation. Perhaps most effective of all is prayer, and belief in a Loving God (“I will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.”)
AS WE SUBTRACT EACH NEGATIVE PROGRAM a crack in our limiting shell appears, weakening the negative energy forces that hold us back. We then reach a new level of consciousness, as Einstein recommends. Continuing down this path will enable us to progress into new expanding positive areas, eventually breaking free of our shell into a reality of infinite possibility.

turning negatives into positives
The “new math”: you can turn a negative into a positive. We are seeking a “new level of consciousness”, as per Einstein’s suggestion that problems may only be solved from a different, new level of consciousness. For our purposes here that means reaching a positive level of consciousness. With the EFT and NLP techniques described in the earlier posts you are poised to achieve this. WHEN YOU SUBTRACT A NEGATIVE, IT IS THE EQUIVALENT TO ADDING A POSITIVE; thus you can reach a positive consciousness simply by subtracting the negative programs! Applying the EFT and NLP techniques have the effect of eliminating negative programs they are applied to! The negative programs are what constrains us to “staying within the box” as referred to in an earlier post. The negative programs- especially the fears and phobias- keep us from venturing outside our comfort zone.
This puts a whole new light on our negative fear, pain and other limiting programs. As we discover negative programs within ourselves we are actually faced with opportunity. These now become our pathway for a quantum leap to positive: as we discover these negative programs and divert them to positive ends we subtract the negatives. Freed of the negative program, our thinking expands outside the box and our consciousness expands.
All of a sudden it becomes desirable to encounter a negative program within yourself! This means that you have identified a negative that you can eliminate and therefore become more positive. As you eliminate your negative programs you are enabled to “pump yourself up” with positives, but not before because you self-sabotage your positive intents with the negative programs under the positive strata.
So priority #1 is to identify and delete the negative programs. It is as simple (not easy as) as 123:
1. Identify a negative program
2. Eliminate it with EFT or NLP technique (see previous 2 posts)
3. Repeat, repeat, repeat.
Start by making a list of all the instances that you find problematic. This would be situations that make you feel uneasy od uncomfortable. Next, apply the EFT tapping technique to that program. If this is a very problematic situation, that is GOOD. The more negative the program you eliminate, the more positive the gain. Finally, now search within for more problem areas. Odds are that you will become aware of deeper issues once you uncover the topmost problem. Continue down through the stack of negative issues and you will finally encounter the initial primal negative program. This is the initial NEGATIVE IMPRINT PROGRAM that you were most likely unaware of, and the elimination of which (by EFT or NLP technique) will propel you into a new state of consciousness OUTSIDE THE BOX!

The Psychology of Subconscious Thinking.
The following entry contains an important new self-help technique from the field of energy medicine. To be in the upcoming book The Psychology of Subconscious Thinking.
Einstein said that in order to solve a problem that we are faced with, we need to find a “new level of consciousness” from which to approach it. And that makes sense, especially if the problem is within you. If your consciousness contained the solution, and you were aware of it, you would have already solved your problem! You need to think outside the box - the conscious “map of reality” mind box. This box is your conscious awareness, and you need to expand your consciousness. This part of your mind is based on all of your past experiences, it is part of your past and you need to reach outside this box to go forward into your future. Open up your consciousness and expect a miracle!
These past programs have us boxed in, in a number of ways:
Pain/fear programs. Perhaps the most toxic of all programs are the traumatic episodes from our past that persist and interfere with our present. These programs often operate outside our awareness and outside our control. However, some methods for detoxifying traumas and their phobic responses have recently been developed. Two very simple techniques are from the fields of EFT and NLP.
Tapping. This technique, also known as the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), consists of tapping on the body’s energy meridians used in acupuncture and acupressure, the ancient Asian energy medicine therapy points. This 5,000 year old healing science has been largely ignored by mainstream Western medicine, at least until lately, as research and practice has shown it to be an effective alternative method for treating many and varied physical and psychological ailments. The WebMD website has an explanation of these energy healing methods at: http://www.webmd.com/balance/guide/acupressure-points-and-massage-treatment
The energy healing EFT tapping technique was developed by Gary Craig, in 1993; this was an adaptation and simplification of a similar energy healing technique being used by psychologist Dr. Roger Callahan at that time, plus some of Gary’s insights as a NLP Master Practitioner. Gary was able to streamline and simplify Roger Callahan’s methodology to the point where anyone, even a child, can quickly learn the technique and use it effectively. And this is all without medical treatment or drugs, and at no cost to the user. (This may be part of the reason that the medical establishment has largely ignored this promising new field of energy healing.)
The procedure is deceptively simple; it consists of a two-part phrase that is spoken aloud and (at the same time) gently tapping with the fingers on some easily accessible “meridian” spots of the upper torso. The first part of the spoken phrase focuses on and “exposes” the problematic condition (perhaps a headache) or negative memory (perhaps a fear of heights from a childhood fall). The second part of the phrase is a spoken assurance of self-acceptance (“I deeply and completely accept myself”). This phrase is repeated each time while tapping on nine meridians as detailed in the website below.
Gary Craig offers this website for those who want to learn EFT to heal themselves and/or others, or to teach it. This free website, http://www.garythink.com/ offers full information, free EFT tutorials, videos and much more. Gary is a man on a mission to reach out and help others with EFT. He is now working with his daughter, Tina, researching and developing new ways of promoting healing. No doubt we’ll be hearing more from them.
So how does this tapping procedure work? Most theoretical explanations revolve around balancing the body’s energy system known as “qi” (chi). This qi flows throughout the body through a network of channels that may be accessed at various “meridians”. While the most obvious component of qi energy would seem to be transmitted by the nervous system, other components are thought to be the skin, connective tissues, the bloodstream, etc. And these are all part of the body/mind/spirit package that is us. Sometimes “blockages” can occur in this energy flow, presumably from some past physical or emotional occurrence. As these meridians are stimulated by tapping on them while focusing on the cause of the unbalance, (the first part of the spoken phrase) and pairing it with the second, self-acceptance part, the qi is redistributed and balanced.
In terms of the Hebbian/NLP model of the mind presented in The Psychology of Positive Thinking, we know that negative programs may well interfere in our daily life, consciously and subconsciously. These are the “dead-end” programs that can land us in an emotional soup. They may also be seen as causing the emotional “qi” blockages that occur, and result in the unbalanced energy system.
The effect of tapping on the meridians while focusing on the negative program triggers the balancing effect of the redistribution of qi. The negative program is no longer the only player; the entire somatic nervous/energy system gets involved. And pairing the exposed negative program with the second self-acceptance program makes the negative program become a trigger for self-acceptance! This gives the previously negative program new choices to connect to emotionally free alternative programs. And the beat goes on, with emotional freedom. The previously dead-end program now has viable alternative programs to connect to, instead of the emotional soup. You (your conscious or subconscious) now have a more resourceful choice,(and according to NLP's main principle)you always and automatically select the most resourceful alternative!
